The collar reports its own position over the mobile network, so the map is current whether your pet is in next door's garden or six miles down a bridleway. Tap into Live Mode and it refreshes every few seconds while you close the distance.

Route history
Play back where they've been, hour by hour. Useful for catching the hole in the fence, and for finally settling what the cat does all afternoon.
One-tap pet finder
Close but can't see them? Hit Find and the collar sounds until you cancel it. Ends the hedge-searching phase faster than shouting does, and works on the cat who is technically indoors somewhere.
Power-saving standby
A 500 mAh rechargeable cell, with a reporting interval you set yourself — report less often and it stretches much further between charges. The magnetic dock clips on without fiddling with a plug.
Your SIM, no fee to us
The housing opens for a standard nano-SIM, so you pick the carrier and the data plan. Paw Traces never charges you a monthly subscription.
The SIM card is the advantage, not the catch
Paw Tracer fixes its position from navigation satellites and transmits that position over the cellular network using its own SIM. It is therefore independent of your phone — and that independence is the whole reason the product works at distance.
No range limit
Position reports travel over the mobile network, so the distance between you and your pet is irrelevant. You can be at work, in another city or in another country and still see the collar's current location.
Satellite positioning, cellular delivery
GNSS satellites establish where the collar is; the cellular link carries that fix to you. Neither step depends on your handset being anywhere nearby.
It works where pets actually get lost
Tag-style trackers report only when some phone happens to pass within Bluetooth range. That is workable in a dense city and close to useless on farmland, woodland and coastal paths — which is precisely where an animal goes missing.
You choose the carrier
The housing takes a standard nano-SIM. Pick the network with the best rural coverage where you live, move to a cheaper tariff whenever you like, or drop in a local SIM before you travel. Nothing is locked to us.
No recurring fee to Paw Traces
You pay for data once, to a carrier, on terms you control. The tracker does not stop working because a subscription lapsed, and the hardware is not leased against a monthly plan.

Safe Zones are the feature people actually use every day. Set a radius anywhere from 100 metres to 3 kilometres around home, the yard, the holiday cottage or your parents' place.

Paw Tracer is rated IP65 under IEC 60529, the international standard for enclosure protection. The housing is fully sealed against dust ingress and withstands low-pressure water jets from every direction — which covers nearly everything a cat, dog or other collar-wearing pet meets in an ordinary week.
- The 6 is the dust digit, and it is the highest grade the standard defines. Sand, grit, litter dust and dried mud stay outside the enclosure.
- The 5 is the water digit: protection against low-pressure jets from any angle. Sustained rain, wet grass, snow, puddles, muddy ditches and a hose-down in the garden.
- Everyday wear is covered — a damp cat coming in through the flap, a dog shaking off on the doormat, a downpour halfway round the park.
Not rated for submersion. IP65 covers spray and rain; it does not cover immersion. Remove the collar before your pet enters a lake, river, pool or bath.

Slide in a nano-SIM
The back panel lifts off. Drop in any nano-SIM with a data allowance, click the housing shut and charge it on the magnetic dock while you read step two.
Pair it in the app
Scan the ID on the back, name your pet, add a photo. The collar appears on the map as soon as it finds its first fix, usually within a minute outdoors.
Draw your Safe Zones
Pinch a circle around home and anywhere else they're meant to stay. From then on the collar watches the boundary so you don't have to.

A Bluetooth tag and a name tag both depend on someone else being in the right place at the right time. Paw Tracer does not: it establishes its own position and reports it over the mobile network, so it keeps working at any distance, in open country, and when nobody else is around. Other cellular GPS collars can do the same — most charge a monthly fee and lock you to their SIM, which is the part we have left out.
Questions worth asking
Can my pet swim with it on?
No. The unit is rated IP65, which covers rain, spray and mud but not immersion. Take it off before a swim and put it back on afterwards. If your pet is in water most weekends, be honest with yourself about whether you'll remember every time — a submersion-rated tracker would suit you better, and we'd rather lose the sale than replace a flooded unit.
Do I really need to supply a SIM?
Yes. The housing opens for a standard nano-SIM and the collar won't report its position without one. The upside is that there's no subscription to us and you can shop for the cheapest data plan going. The downside is one extra errand on day one, which is why we say it up front.
How accurate is it, honestly?
Expect 5 to 15 metres outdoors with a clear sky. Under heavy tree cover or between tall buildings it widens, and indoors it falls back to cell positioning, which puts your pet in roughly the right building rather than the right room. The audible pet finder is what closes that last gap.
Will it fit a cat?
It fits pets from 8 lb up and the strap trims to length. On a small cat or a house rabbit the unit is noticeable for the first day or two before they stop caring. Always pair it with a breakaway safety collar for cats.
What happens when my pet leaves a Safe Zone?
Every phone on the account gets a push notification, usually within seconds, with an SMS as backup. Open the app and the live map is already tracking, with the route drawn behind them so you can see which way they went.
What if it doesn't work out?
Send it back within 30 days for a full refund. If the unit fails within two years and it isn't down to a chewing incident, we replace it. If it is a chewing incident, tell us anyway — replacements are $39.
